About my practice

Posted by:Dr. Bruce Hutchison

Greetings

I am registered a a psychologist with the College of Psychologists Of Ontario. This is the licensing body which provides the license to practice as a psychologist in the Province of Ontario.

Fee information at my practice is available upon inquiry through my Email address at: info@drbrucehutch.com, or by telephone at 613-355-5255. Coverage for psychologists is available for Federal Government employees through the Public Service Health Care Plan (PHSCP) administered through Sun Life Financial, as described in the following websites:

Public Service Health Care Plan FAQs

Sun Life Public Service Healthcare Plan Member Services Website

Fees for psychologists are also often supported by private health plans. Employees of various private businesses are often covered for psychological services by their employee benefits plans.

Appointments are available with myself only on Fridays and Saturdays. Appointments are usually available within a week or two after initial contact is made with myself. Treatment sessions consist of counselling and/or psychotherapy and last for one hour. Best results are obtained if sessions are held every week, however if necessary people can return every two to three weeks for follow-up sessions if financial considerations are a factor. Sessions are often spread further apart when improvement starts to occur.

I am in my office Fridays from 9:30 am to 6 pm. The last appointment on Fridays is available at 5 pm. On Saturdays I am available from 9:30 am to 5pm. The last appointment time available on a Saturday is at 4 pm. Appointments can be made by calling me at 613-355-5255 or by contacting me via email *here* or at info@drbrucehutch.com

Fees are payable by cheque or cash or credit card at the time of the session. All sessions are personal, private and confidential. I will sometimes communicate with referring physicians or other concurrent professionals involved with the person's care, with the client's permission, and will communicate this to the client. The decision to do this is made on a case-by-case basis. This can be done if requested by the client or referral source or if deemed necessary by myself. The information cannot be released without the client's written permission.

I am bound by law and professional ethics to break confidentiality if I discover that ongoing child abuse is occurring, ongoing abuse of a vulnerable person is occurring, or if the client tells me or gives me the strong impression that they are going to harm themselves or someone else. Also, in cases where court actions involving the client are involved, my records can be subpoenaed.

Sometimes individuals give other third parties, such as insurance companies written permission to obtain information from myself. In this case, with knowledge of the client, we provide attendance dates, and describe, in general terms, receptivity of the client, client moods and behaviors, psychological status and psychodiagnostic impressions, psychological explanations for behaviors and situations, client readiness, and recommendations for future steps and directions. I do not disclose personal information.
